925 million people are chronically hungry.

It’s easy to ignore that fact when we sit at home in our comfortable chairs, with our eyes glued to the TV and our hearts closed to the need for change. Yes ending global hunger is an impossible task, but we can make a difference, even if it’s in the smallest possible way. All it takes is a moment to stop, breathe, reflect and to be grateful for how much we have been given, in comparison to those who live in places where famine is a daily reality and chances of survival dim.
When we strip away the fancy schools, houses, movie theatres and shopping malls we build our lives around, we are reminded that human beings don’t need much to survive. Yet, for 925 miliion people in the world, clean water and food is more than a basic necessity, it’s a luxury.
So, if you have some time today, be grateful for what you have, and spare some change for the hungry.

Finally developed the rolls of film I accumulated in 2010. Although a number of prints were over exposed or botched, a few gems managed to save the pile. Phew!
This shot was taken with Holga 120CFN at a beach in Victoria, Australia.

Do something, for a change.

I’m challenging myself to abstain from all food this weekend to raise funds for World Vision’s 40 Hour Famine projects. The money will go towards fighting the Global Food Crisis in Nepal, Kenya, Laos and Cambodia, where people are at risk of starvation. Every $40 raised can help 6 children for 1 month and donations can be made up til 30th September.
